Korn Ferry tour is a subsidiary of PGA tour, An organization that arranges professional Golf Tours across the US. The Korn Ferry is the annual development tour that allows players that have either participated but failed to earn enough points to get through and win the cup or have been unable to reach the PGA tour. So basically Korn ferry tour is like a gateway for the PGA tour aspirants.

History

The Korn ferry tour has its roots back in 1989 when Deane Beman, Commissioner of the PGA Tour announced  “The Satellite tour” in 1990 which was named after its sponsor Ben Hogan Golf Company, “Ben Hogan tour”. Since then Korn ferry tour has had its name changed several times according to its sponsors, In June 2019 Korn Ferry a consulting firm from Los Angeles was announced as a 10-year sponsor for the tour, replacing its previous sponsor Web.com. Hence the Tour is named After Korn Ferry “Korn Ferry Tour”.

Every Korn ferry tournament is much alike the PGA tour tournaments. The cut and ties in the Korn ferry tour are for the top 65 players, as opposed to the top 70 in the PGA tour.

Three Win Promotion

In the Korn ferry tour, if a player manages to win three tournaments in a year, He directly gets promoted to the PGA tour as a reward. These three win promotions are often referred to as “Performance Promotion”. There have been eleven performance promotions since 1997.
